黎平是黔东南苗族侗族自治州面积最大、人口最多的县。是中国最大的侗族聚居县，侗族占全县总人口的71%。也是侗族文化的发祥地，被誉为侗乡之都。

翘街又名东门街，因与长征历史的渊源而闻名。位于黎平县境内，也是保存较为完好的明清时期建筑群。长约一公里，两端隆起，中部下陷，形似两头隆起的木杆，故称“翘街”。 1934年12月18日，在红军25000里（7767英里）的长征路上，中共中央政治局黎平会议在这条街的一家商店举行。毛泽东、周恩来、朱德都出席了会议。如今，“黎平会址纪念馆”已成为“红色旅游”的一大亮点。

Liping is the largest and most populous county in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous

Prefecture.It is the county that is inhabited by the largest Dong community in China, which accounts for 71% of the county's total population. It is also the rnain birthplace of the Dong culture, and is honoured as the capital of Dong towns.

Qiaojie Street, also known as Dongmen Street, is famous for its connection with the history of the Long March. Located in Liping County, it is also a relatively well preserved architectural complex constructed during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is about I kilometer in length,elevated at both ends but seeming to sag in the middle, and looks just like a wooden carrying pole with the two ends raised, and that's why it's called "Qiaojie street"(qiao means "being raised or elevated" in Chinese). On December 18,1934,during the 25,000-li(7,767-mile)long journey of the Red Army, known as the Long March, "Liping Meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee"was held in a shop on this street. Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De all attended the meeting. Now, the "Memorial Hall of the Liping Meeting Site"has become an attraction for the "Red Tourism".
