The landscape of terraced fields in Guizhou has been frequently "liked" by Hua Chunying and Zhao Lijian, Chinese foreign ministry spokespersons, which called as "A miracle palette of nature".

贵州的喀斯特地貌景观的确很美，但在喀斯特地貌石漠化的影响下，当地的水土保持成为一项艰巨的任务。为了能够耕种一张桌子大小的土地，贵州人民不得不砍伐原始植被，从碎石和石头缝中收集土壤，通过积累土壤，他们终于得到了足够厚实的土层来种植庄稼，梯田也因此诞生。

The karst landscape in Guizhou is indeed beautiful, but the karst rocky desertification and the widespread underground pore fissures and sinkholes have made water and soil conservation a difficult task. To be able to farm a parcel of land the size of a table,residents here had to cut down the original vegetation and collect soil from the rubbles and cracks in stones; by accumulating the soil, they finally got enough layers to be able to grow crops, from which developed the terraced fields.The terraced fields, high and low, are decorated by huts and trees, portraying the spectacular scenery of the mountains.

贵州省黎平县的堂安村被称为最后的侗族生态博物馆，被称为“人类返璞归真的典范”。

Tang'an village in Liping, Guizhou Province, is known as "the last ecological museum of the Dong ethnic group", and has been considered as "a real nature land for human beings".

沿着村中的小径一路行来，层层叠叠的梯田非常壮观，绿色的田埂将不同区域的梯田分割开来。田内有着一片片的白萝卜花和油菜花，在阳光的照耀下非常美丽，一切都显得那么静谧。

Country lanes run through the whole village, the layered terraces are very spectacular, the green ridges divide terraces in different areas. There are great clumps of white radish and rape blossoms in the field, which are very beautiful under the sunlight.Such a scene looks like a pretty painting.

被绿树青山围绕的村落里升起了阵阵炊烟。耕牛还在田间沉默地劳作着，勤劳的侗族人们走在回家吃饭的路上，露出满足而幸福的笑脸。 

In village, surrounded by green trees and green hills, cooking smoke rises from cottages. The cattle are still working silently in the fields, and the industrious Dong people walks home with satisfied and happy smiles.
